Man 1: You’re one of the most popular students at Carver. You’re honest, you’re straightforward, and you don’t crack under pressure, as we all saw in an amazing fourth quarter against West side. All the kids look up to you. Now, what does that spell?
Man 1: Student…council…president.
Man 2: Who, me? Oh, no. I…I don’t know anything about that stuff, Mr. M. I mean, besides, that’s Tracy Flick’s thing. She’s always working so hard.
Man 1: Yeah I know. She’s a real go-getter, all right.
Man 2: And she’s super nice.
Man 1: Yeah, yeah, but one person assured of victory kind of undermines the whole idea of democracy, don’t you think?
Man 2: But, Mr. M–
Man 1: I mean, that’d be more like a dictatorship like we studied.
Man 2: But, Mr. M, there’s–
Man 1: Paul, what’s your favorite fruit?
Man 2: Pears.
Man 1: Pears. Good. OK. Let’s say–
Man 2: Oh, no, wait. Apples.
Man 1: Apples. Fine. Let’s say all you ever knew were apples. Apples, apples, more apples. You might think apples were pretty good, even if you got a rotten one once in a while. But then one day…there’s an orange. And now you can make a decision. Do you want an apple or do you want an orange? That’s democracy.
Man 2: I also like bananas.
Man 1: Exactly. Good. So what do you say? Maybe it’s time to give a little something back.

- Step1 無音で動画を見てどのような場面、状況なのかを想像する。
- Step2 英語の音声と合わせて動画を視聴する。この段階では英語字幕やスクリプトは見ずに、自分の実力を試す。ディクテーションの際はこのSTEPで行う。
- Step3 英語字幕や上記のスクリプトを参考にしながら、英語の内容をしっかり確認する。必要なら辞書を引いても良い。ディクテーションのときは、ここで答え合わせなどをする。
- Step4 ミラーリングの練習の際には、ここで英語字幕やスクリプト無しで動画を再生し練習する。発音、抑揚だけでなく。身振り手振りや感情もコピーする。
- Step5 最終確認のために、もう一度英語字幕やスクリプト無しで動画を視聴する。英語をどれだけ理解できたかを確認する。
